Week 1- Mexico City, Acapulco and Puerto Escondido
We are now in a really cool little fishing village called Puerto Escondido. When we got here it was pouring with rain but we fell in love with it straight away. We checked into a hostel which was the temperature of a sauna, the fan was hanging off the ceiling, the toilet didn´t work, and the shower smelt like sewage...other than that a good hostel though. Ha! So we stayed there the night we had paid for and found a nicer hostel the next day. We have a really nice big room, there are hammocks, and a roof terrace, and lots of cool people. There are lots of little family owned places to eat good fish and lots of tacos. The beaches here are stunning. We are apparently in the best surf spot in Mexico, so also lots of amazing surfers to watch while sitting on the beach all day. However, I have never been anywhere so hot in my life. You have to have about 5 showers a day, and you still don´t feel clean. It seems to storm every other day, but just never get any cooler.
Before we arrived here we were in Acapulco and before that Mexico City. We didn´t spend much time in Mexcico city as althought it was pretty cool and the hostel was nice, we were very keen to get to the beach. However we spent even less time in Acapulco, when we realised it was a little bit like a Mexican Magaluf...not what we are looking for. There were people trying to charge you to get onto the beach, and our hostel room was the size of a shoebox- the bed actually touched the door!!!
So back to where we are now. We have been out partying a few times. There are some amazing salsa dancing clubs on the beach, oh how I am wishing I took classes now. We have met a really cool group of people, who we are spending most of our time with. We all went down to a bar this morning to watch the football match. What a dissapointment that was, especially having a few German friends with us! Oh Dear!
I hear the weather is lovely back home. Miss you all lots. Must get off the computer now as the beach is calling me.
Much Love xxxx

Backpacking through Latin America- By Mindy Coe
This is my blog on my first Backpacking trip ever. I am leaving with my lovely boyfriend, Joel tomorrow morning for the trip of a lifetime. We will be there for 14 weeks and visiting lots of countries. All we have planned is a flight into Mexico City and a flight out of Peru 14 weeks later. So everything in between will be a massive adventure for the both of us. I thought I would start a blog and do my best to let all our friends and family know what we are doing every now and again. I will update it as much as I can. Please excuse my spelling, grammar. I am sure most of these will be typed very fast whilst 15 other backpackers are waiting behind me to use the internet.
Here we go...
Packing!
So last time Joel and I went away on holiday, it was a weeks trip to a 5* hotel in Turkey. Joel came round to pick me up for the airport and I was lying face down on the landing having a complete tantrum that I had broken my straighteners and locked all my belongings in my new, beautiful, pink suitcase along with my passport.... This time I have promised him that that will not be the case However, its the day before and my bedroom currently looks like this (see pic) and somehow, I have to fit all that into a minuscule backpack which is also below... hmmm this is going to be tricky. You can also see in the picture that I am still in my pajamas, running around like a headless chicken trying to get everything done. Joel confiscated my passport 4 months ago so I know its in safe hands. We have our new camera (thank you Anna and Vic) all set and lots of memory cards, so expect a lot of pictures!
I better run, as I have 2 washing loads to do, 25 bikinis to chose from and about 5 items to clothe me for 4 months to choose from that pile you can see. Ouch.
Tomorrow evening we will be in Mexico city, in the biggest party hostel there...woooop!
